The LCFI Dream

GOD'S DREAM

Some people dream that one day they would be successful, or have a family, or be healed.  These are wonderful dreams and worthy of pursuit, but God has a dream too!  And that dream includes you!

God gave his dream to a man named Abraham more than 3000 years ago.  God spoke to Abraham and told him to leave his land and family and to follow him to a land that he would show him and that God would bless him.  One night, after Abraham had believed and followed, God told him to go out and look up and count the stars if indeed he could.  Abraham looked, up to see the same galaxies and stars that we see today - numbering beyond that which can be counted.   God told Abraham that because he had believed and followed Him that he would bless him through one of HIS descendants and through that one descendant God would bless every nation of the earth and call to himself a people as numerous as the stars in the sky or the sand on the seashore.

The one descendant through which God, has and is, fulfuliing his promise to Abraham, is JESUS.  Through Jesus, God has indeed blessed and gathered to himself a people as numerous as the stars in the sky, and even today through the preaching of a simple message of God's forgiveness and redemption, God is still bringing people back to himself through Jesus.

So God's dream is that you and your family would become a part of His family and also part of his dream to bless the whole world through Jesus.

THE COMBINE HARVESTER

Jesus used the metaphor of the Harvest to describe the people in the world that had not yet become a part of God's dream to have a family that was as numerous as the stars - those who had not believed in HIM.  One day while looking at the wheat fields that had turned white because they were ready for harvest, Jesus said to his disciples (followers), "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest."

A number of years ago I had the privilege of being able to enjoy a ride on a combine harvester during the wheat harvest.  It was an incredible experience watching the giant machine as it quickly harvested row after row of ripe wheat.   The farmer who was driving the machine brought it to a halt at the end of the field and jumped out of the cab leaving me there alone as I pondered what I had just seen.  As a pastor, I longed to see the church fulfill its great purpose to glorify God by bringing people into a relationship with Jesus and helping them to discover their part in God's dream.  For me those few moments in that cab were moments of destiny as I prayed a simple prayer to Jesus... it went something like this, ""Lord, I don't care about houses, or jobs, or money, but if I could have one dream come true it would be a part of a church that can harvest like this combine harvester."  As soon as I had spoke this the Lord replied "Kevin, that is My Dream Too."

As a church we here at LCFI have decided that we will be a church that is committed to "The DREAM"

We would love for you to join us on the adventure of making "The Dream" a reality.
